4 years ago we traveled with the kids to Spain of course the main destination was Barcelona and Madrid. Since Barcelona and Madrid are far apart, we decided to stay two nights in Valencia, from the little I got to read about it, I realized that it is a cute and interesting city but I did not expect too much, in retrospect it is fun to spend a few more days and we definitely want to return.
Peniscola
Unfortunately staing in Barcelona that time was a nightmare, just there was a teror attack and we encountered the crowd that ran away from it, which left the children in trauma.after that experience they no longer wanted to walk around the city, so we left it earlier and stopped on the way at Peniscola, a nice town. It has a large and impressive castle and a wall that surrounds the city.
Valencia
Valencia is the 3rd largest city in Spain, about 4 hours away from Barcelona and 3 and a half hours from Madrid, unfortunately there is still no direct flight to Israel. Valencia is very interesting from an architectural point of view, on the one hand the old Spanish-style Gothic style and on the other hand a new and unique architecture, in the part of the architect Santiago Calatrava, who grew up in the city, he is the one who designed the String Bridge in Jerusalem and Petah Tikva.
Mercado Central
The main market of Valencia Mercado Central de Valencia, is housed in a beautiful building full of glass and painted ceramics, the market itself is very colorful and diverse, on the one hand regular market products, on the other hand special bakeries and lots and lots of hamon and everything is presented in a very aesthetic way.
L'Oceanogràfic
Inside the impressive complex of the city of arts and sciences, is the largest aquarium in Europe L'Oceanogràfic, it is located in a very modern and impressive complex, it is spread over a wide area and divided into different structures, like in Sea World you can also see here dolphin show, sharks, jellyfish And sharks holiday above and beyond
Paella
The most popular dish in Valencia, is paella, it is a rice stew with seafood / snails / rabbits / chicken (absolutely not for me, but Avner and Hagai licked their fingers)
The old City
The old town of Valencia, built of narrow and beautiful alleys, is very reminiscent of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona, its main square, the Virgin Square Placa de l'Almoina, is very spacious and beautiful a great place to stop for coffee.
Colon Street
Shopping lovers, will not get disappointed from Valencia, here you will find all the big stores and chains
The train station and the Bullring
Two beautiful buildings next to each other and very impressive. The bullring is closed to visitors outside of business hours, but the exterior structure is very impressive
