In the previous post about San Francisco and the surrounding area, we stopped on our way to Los Angeles so I will continue from there.
Continuation of Route No. 1
After San Simon the road becomes less interesting as in its northern part but it still has nice stopping points.
Solvang
Stopping in Solvang, feels like a little jump to Denmark. The first thing you come across is the amazing smell of the Danish cookies. The streets are studded with buildings with Danish architecture and windmills.
Santa Barbara
Another cute place to stop on the way to Los Angeles is Santa Barbara, this is a small town in a very cute Spanish / Mexican style by the sea.
Anaheim
Anaheim, for me this is the real reason to come to Los Angeles, you can find here two Disney parks the Disneyland which is actually the classic Disney park (parallel to the Disney kingdom in Orlando) and there is the Disney theme park which is a more extreme park. Of course there is also the entertainment area with restaurants, cafes and countless shops.
We staid at the Hyatt house it was great, the room is very big and conviniante and its only cuople of minutes walk
Universal Studios
For those who the Disney parks was not enogth thrill, can drive towards Pasadena and find there the Universal Amusement Park, a park with many attractions more suitable for the older and braver children.
Los Angeles
The truth is that I do not like LA too much, it is not interesting enough and for the most part not very beautiful, it is always terribly congested which does not really make me want to walk in it or drive in it. I recommend taking the Hop on Hop off bus tour . This is a nice and quite exhaustive tour of the city. Los Angeles is also a good spot to go on a cruise and its port is very comfortable and accessible and most major companies take cruises out of it.
The village of Los Angeles
On Olvera Street, you can find the village of Los Angeles, the place feels like a little jump to Mexico, you can find here Mexican shops and restaurants. It has a festive and colorful fun atmosphere.
Catalina Island
If you fancy sailing to a small and lovable island Catalina Island for you, it is famous mainly because of the large casino that was operating there in the past, and is also the symbol of the island. It is recommended to rent a golf cart here and walk around the island, it has beautiful views ,the brave ones can also do zip line here.
San Diego
San Diego is about an hour and a half drive south of Los Angeles, it's a gorgeous city and its weather is perfect most of the year around 25 degrees and it's not very rainy. In San Diego you can find a wide variety of theme parks.
Sea World
The Sea World, is one of the most famous parks in San Diego ,its spread over a huge area and you can meet a wide variety of fish, sea turtles, whales, sharks, dolphins and more. You can enjoy various animal shows and roller coasters
Legoland
Legoland is an entire Lego-based park it's a great experience especially for the little ones. You can spend hours here in the various facilities and build in Lego as much as you want.
Seal Tours
A very cute attraction, an amphibious vehicle ride around the city including a descent to the ocean and an observation on the Navy.
Old Town San Diego
In Old Town San Diego you will feel for a moment in the America of yesteryear, ancient wooden structures as seen in the Westerns, shops of yesteryear and all this is combined with atmosphere and Mexican shops.
Balaboa Park
Balaboa Park, is stunning in its beauty, a varaity of buildings in different styles, such as Spanish, Persian style buildings, Japanese tea gardens and more.
Corando Peninsula
The corando Peninsula is connected by a spectacular bridge that rises to a very high altitude, it is a quiet island with restaurants cafes and a beautiful strip of beach, it is recommended to get here at sunset.
La Jolla
La Jolla, located north of San Diego is an upscale neighborhood ,its nestled on the oceanand very butiful. The La Jolla Cove area is very nice for a walk and there are lots of cute seals that come to lie on the beach.
